Do I ever love winter! Who am I kidding? I love all the seasons! Just because it is cold and snowy, does not mean YOU need to hibernate! There is so much to see and do during the winter months – and is it ever pretty covered in snow! Everything takes on a sharper perspective, and the sky is so much bluer! Plus, the smells are incredible!!! Sometimes, I like to go and just sit in the snow…

Ok, I’ll stop yapping and tell you about a few places and activities you can do.
Like to sled? I do! At the south end of town, there is a hill that all the locals go to. Not too steep, short enough to walk up a couple times, and then a fast ride down. Sometimes, people will set up a table with hot chocolate and treats, play music, even have a warming tent. C’mon – grab your favorite sled and let’s go!

Heading out of town on 3A south, maybe 2 miles from the square, is Profile Falls. I have mentioned this place earlier – a rail-to-trail. Yes, it is a great place to hike in the summer – and a great place to hike in the winter! Sometimes, Heidi will grab her x-country skis – nice flat trail. Be aware, it is a multi-use trail, so you might encounter snowmobilers and dog sledders practicing.

Also located off 3A, not too far from the square, is Inspiration Point, at the Slim Baker Recreation Area. With plenty of parking, you can access the trail head to this ½ mile hike. It is moderately challenging; however, you can hike it easily. It takes you to the summit when you will be greeted by stunning views.

Another place to visit – just because it is so pretty! – is Dick Brown Pond. Take a quick trip up there – with your camera. You might even get lucky and see a bald eagle!

These are just a few of the many activities you can take part in around Pleasant View. There is also ice fishing on the lake, you can snowshoe at the Audubon Society, hike or backcountry ski at Cardigan Mountain.
If you run out of places to go and things to do here, ask Heidi — she can send you to so much more!
Just embrace winter!
